May 17th at the Oregon City Farmers' Market
From the first Saturday in May through the last Saturday in October, the Oregon City Farmers' Market provides the local community with a place to come together to find fresh local produce and plants, get to know the growers, enjoy a coffee and pastry while listening to local musicians. This Saturday the market welcomes music from Toe Tap Band and The Voyagers. The conservation organization Trout Unlimited will be at the Go Green, Live Sustainably booth and OSU Extension Master Gardeners will begin a series of 20-minute workshops. The topic of this week's workshop is "No Fuss Herbs." The spring has been slow getting going this year but as the days lengthen and get warmer you can bet that the seedlings will start coming on strong soon. Get some tomatoes and lettuces in the ground soon so that you can enjoy home-grown salads this summer.
The Locavore Pledge:

There are many reasons you might chose to Buy Fresh, Buy Local. You might do so to protect the environment, or to support your local economy. Or perhaps you are concerned about food safety or about protecting open green spaces in suburban and urban areas.
